During a crackdown on suspected chaos ahead of Azimio rally in Kisii, police have cause seven pangas. A suspect has been apprehended while assisting the police to carry out investigations.
This has happened ahead of Azimio La Umoja rally where the fomer prime minister Raila odinga us set to visit on Monday .
The pangas were discovered in a washroom at Senator Bar and Restaurant in Mwembe estate near Kisii town . This is in accordance to the County Police Commander, Francis Kooli. He said “ we are holding the owner of the to assit in investigations and why the pangas were hidden in the bar. We were informed by a member of the public on Saturday about the matter.”
He added that they are still digging into a related incident last week where four pangas were found near Kisii sports club,
Police also siezes a dozen of clubs where a boda boda rider was transporting them near Kisii sports club.
Mr Kooli added that they are on the hunt of four other people who are suspects of the planned chaos.
He said the pangas were covered in a reflector bearing a name of a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirant.
The weapons were discovered hidden in a bush near the Kisii Sports Club which is situated near the County Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) headquaters.
Mr Kooli said that they have been on high alert from their intelligence sources four days ago about the planned violence and disruptions of peace in the County . He added that officers where informed about the hidden pangas.
In addition he also want the outgoing Nyaribari Masaba lawmaker to explain why a reflector bearing his name was used in covering the pangas.
