The teachers service commission has refuted claims that is had denied teachers a chance in taking part in IEBC jobs in the August General elections.
TSC gave a statement on Wednesday ,June 22, terming the curcular as fake which was addressed to school heads and alleged that it barred teachers from taking up IEBC poll jobs.
The TSC made a stand that the circular and statement did not cine from it even as IEBC is preparing to hold interviews of polling clerks and presiding officers.
“ Our attention has been brought to social media on some fake news. Abandon these news.” TSC declared.
The fale circular directed that headteachers were restrict teachers from taking interviews in reference to a similar circular in 2020.
In 2020 ,the circular said that the TSC warned teacher from partaking in politics and holding political jobs and offices while still serving as teachers .
The TSC boss Nancy Macharia said, “In agreement with the spirit of national virtues and good governance in the constitution which attributes impartiality and neutrality , it is important for all emoloyees of the TSC to stick to observing the law in accordance by abstinence of political engagements.
“In this regard all educators of the commission are directed to abstain from partisan activities while in the public service. Further ,any failure to observe the direction of the circular will lead to disciplinary actions.” She added.
The response from TSC comes after educators raised eyebrows concerning the fake viral curcular as many of them had applied the TSC jobs.
Most of the teachers argued that it was a way to earn income which include voting , civic education and counting of the general election votes. This is a relief to those teachers who had believed the fake news and thereby gives them a go-ahead to participate in the IEBC jobs to make that extra coin.
